Welcome to Southern Comfort ,St Ives

We first visited St Ives in 1995 on our first romantic break away together! Since then we've got married, had 2 children and visited many times, always hoping one day we'd be lucky enough to actually have our own place in St Ives. In May 2010 our dream became reality - after trailing around many properties - with high hopes often dashed, just as we were about to head home the estate agent mentioned a new property that had just come onto their books and since the last one had been so wrong we might just be able to squeeze in a viewing. We knew as we walked through the door that this was the one.

So Southern Comfort is our home from home, and that means that s not just another commercial property you'll be visiting where everything is done with an eye for the bottom line.

It's important that the beds must be comfortable. The bed linen must be crisp and white, all seasons duvets so you don't bake in the summer but can be super cosy in the winter. Bedspreads and lambswool throws, because we all have different tolerances to the cold.

Characterful furniture to compliment the cottage, which may mean things keep changing as we make a new find. Books, films and ornaments that come from our home - and one or two bits left by guests that sort of go! Games for rainy days, books for children. Decent knives in the kitchen, a cafetiere and a few bits of vintage Cornishware. We installed a log burning stove in the living room which makes it all very cosy.

New for 2011 we've upgraded the patio area with a more comfortable bench, chairs and side table and some lavender plants so it smells nice.

We have spared you the pebble and shell collection - that's come home to join the conker collection!

We went to Southern Comfort Cottage in late November. Had a great time exploring the historic fishing town of St Ives and roaming the rugged and spectacular cliff tops. The cottage was very cosy and romantic with a real log fire – Ideal for a quiet getaway.

We stayed in the cottage in November 2006 and had a great time. My sister arrived before me and rang straight away to say how lovely it was, raving about how gorgeous the rooms were and all the little touches that made the cottage so special. I thought she might be building my hopes up but I was not disappointed at all!! The cottage is so gorgeous, and in a perfect location within St Ives. What a treat to walk out the door and find the town and harbour less than 100 metres away.............

Recent visit to Southern Comfort Cottage
My Husband and I have just spent New year at your lovely cottege, we just wanted to thank you so much for such comfort!! Its so nice to go away and have a lovely place to stay- comfory beds and a lovely warm cottage. i cooked a special meal on New Years Eve in the cottage before going to the harbour for further entertainment- what a treat! and lovely way to spend a very special evening. We would love to go back to your cottage- perfect!!!

We really enjoyed our stay at southern comfort, meant to leave something in the visitor book but we were in a rush.

The cottage is beautiful. so many times we have stayed in houses that its obvious that the owner is just thinking of the income and not the guests by having cheap and nasty furniture etc. We loved the style you have created in the cottage, we felt at home rather than staying in someone elses house. Everything was perfect, thanks and the broadband was really useful.

Comfortable cottage with one of the best positions in St Ives. Kids loved the toys and the beds are really comfy.

Unfortunately we were unable to stay for the entire week, but we loved every moment we did spend here! A beautiful property with everything you need and so many wonderful features we didn’t expect. A fab location in relation to any activity, too.

Have stayed in lots of cottages in St Ives, but we felt “at home” straight away, very comfortable and chilled out!

Being just us two, we had lots of space to put our things. We loved the original features and it wasn’t too everdone.

Altogether a super seaside cottage!! The weather was very kind to us ,sad to leave but hope to come again! C& M.

We had a fab time here in St Ives. Your cottage is beautiful and really feels like being at home. So cosy after being on the beach. Really have the attention to detail – the crisp white sheets and comfy beds really make a difference.

Jackson loved reading the story books in the kids bedroom – I didn’t really enjoy reading them at 6.30 most days!!
